                Tongue and Cheek

Two watercolor paintings, a diptych, created at the same time in order to compliment each other. The snake charmer and virgin sacrifice are real traditions that appear in mythologies in cultures all over the world. The kiss itself represents a death marriage. But why a snake? The snake in some places means evil, greed, seduction, the negative side of male ego, but in other places wisdom, rain giver or rebirth. Whatever the story I believe there's a certain amount of danger in true beauty. Life and death might be what we're really attracted to.
